Hello fellow ECS colleagues. I hope everything is going well for you. For our second blog assignment, I want to share scripture regarding the heart of a child. "Create in them a pure heart, O God, and let that purity of heart be shown in their actions." (Ps 51:10) I tend to walk through life with my heart on my sleeve. So do children. That's one of the reasons why I love 4th and 5th graders. They are still at that age where their hearts are so pure and they wear their hearts on their sleeves too. Somehow, we tend to lose that along the way.
What fuels my heart for early childhood studies? Being with the students I tutor allows me to freely give my time, my heart, and my talent without expecting anything in return. It is pure. Serving my community with a pure heart and with no expectation of receiving something back is a step toward addressing social injustice, in my mind. Similar to my mother, I have a desire to fix social injustices, especially against children. As a result, hear I am. I've been involved in youth programming for about four years. Now, I am ready to add the early childhood studies to my youth programming experience. I am ready to act on my passion for educating all children. (Mason, 2011) God's timing is perfect!
Joyful, I love the face painting on your niece. She must have sat really still to have such a detailed painting created. My grandson, who is nine, refuses to allow his face to be painted. He freaks out! For cub scouts, he is supposed to join his den to have his face painted, to move up to the next level. I have not been able to convince him to attend the ceremony, just because of the face painting! I'm running out of time! Mary L.
Thank you for being such a positive and engaged classmate during our time together in this class. I noticed that I resonated with your posts on our discussion board throughout the course and I appreciate your insights and perspectives. I have also enjoyed your blog very much. What stood out for me the most was your Personal Childhood Web. I liked how your described the people in your web with brief personality traits under Childhood Web Details. Thank you for your encouragement and positive attitude. I hope to see you again in a future class!
Congratulations on the beginning of a wonderful tool for capturing your ideas, feelings and important learning throughout this program.
